Flat Earth Dave on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/flat-earth-dave-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 01 Aug 2026 11:36:25 +0000 https://seankelly.io/flat-earth-dave-digital-social-hour/

Flat Earth Dave — Dave Weiss — has become one of the most recognizable advocates for flat-earth belief on the internet, and one of the most willing to sit across from people who disagree with him. He joined Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour for a long conversation about the ideas that have made him polarizing, and about what he says actually drives them: a refusal to accept an explanation simply because an institution issued it.

Over roughly seventy minutes the two work through the arguments Dave is best known for — Antarctica, NASA and the moon landing, gravity, the firmament, space travel — and then move somewhere less expected. He describes going from atheist to believing in a creator, argues that formal education trains people out of asking questions, and makes the case that curiosity is worth more than certainty. The positions are his, and Sean Kelly gives him room to lay them out in full.

Episode: DSH #2083
Runtime: 70 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Flat Earth Dave

Flat Earth Dave, whose real name is Dave Weiss, is a speaker and content creator who has spent years publicly arguing the flat-earth position. He has become one of the movement's most visible figures largely by making himself available — appearing on podcasts, debating on camera, and taking questions from audiences that are mostly skeptical of him.

Much of what he presents is framed less as settled cosmology than as a challenge to how people decide what to believe. In his telling, the shape of the Earth is the entry point to a broader argument about institutional trust, media, and education. He describes his own path as one that began in atheism and moved toward belief in a creator as he worked through the material, and he returns often to the idea that asking a question is a more useful posture than defending an answer.

What Flat Earth Dave and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • Why Dave argues the shape of the Earth is not really the argument
  • His case regarding NASA's imagery and the Apollo moon landings
  • What he maintains Antarctica represents within the flat-earth model
  • How he answers the standard questions about gravity and the firmament
  • Why he believes formal education conditions people to stop questioning authority
  • His account of moving from atheism toward belief in a creator
  • How he sees media and fear shaping what the public accepts
  • Why he argues curiosity matters more than certainty

Why This Conversation Matters

Sean Kelly describes this as one of the most controversial conversations the show has recorded, and it is a useful one to sit with regardless of where you land on the subject. Flat Earth Dave makes his arguments at length, in his own words, without an interviewer cutting across them — which is the only condition under which a listener can actually weigh them. The views expressed in this episode are his own.

Adam Carolla on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/adam-carolla-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 01 Aug 2026 11:36:20 +0000 https://seankelly.io/adam-carolla-digital-social-hour/

Adam Carolla has been a fixture of American comedy for three decades — first as the voice opposite Dr. Drew Pinsky on 'Loveline,' then as co-host of 'The Man Show,' and for the last fifteen years as one of the most prolific independent podcasters working. He joined Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour for a conversation about California, the business of comedy, and why so many of the people who once defined the state's creative culture have moved elsewhere.

The episode moves quickly. Carolla talks about how he approaches an interview, what changed once podcasting let hosts route around traditional broadcast gatekeepers, and how he reads the incentives behind the modern outrage cycle. Sean Kelly steers the thread from cultural commentary to the practical questions underneath it — cost of living, taxes, where creators are relocating — before the two land on cars, racing, and what Carolla is building next.

Episode: DSH #2082
Runtime: 33 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Adam Carolla

Adam Carolla is a comedian, radio and television host, author, and documentary producer. He came up through Los Angeles radio and became widely known as co-host of 'Loveline' alongside Dr. Drew Pinsky, a run that carried from radio to MTV. He went on to co-create and co-host 'The Man Show' with Jimmy Kimmel and to co-create 'Crank Yankers,' and he has written several books, including the New York Times bestseller 'In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks.' He also competed on 'Dancing with the Stars.'

When his terrestrial radio show ended in 2009, Carolla moved straight into podcasting — early enough that 'The Adam Carolla Show' was recognized by Guinness World Records in 2011 as the most downloaded podcast, and durable enough that he has been releasing episodes on his own network ever since. He is also a committed car enthusiast and amateur racer who owns a collection of Paul Newman's former race cars, and he has produced motorsport documentaries including 'Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman' and 'The 24 Hour War.' Before any of it, he worked in construction and carpentry.

What Adam Carolla and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • How Adam approaches an interview after three decades of radio and podcasting
  • Why he argues that media incentives now reward outrage over accuracy
  • His view on why creators and entrepreneurs have been leaving California
  • What he believes changed once podcasting routed around traditional broadcast gatekeepers
  • His take on cost of living, taxes, and the pull toward Las Vegas
  • Why he thinks public figures speak differently once they are financially independent
  • How he sees stand-up adapting to shifting standards of what is sayable
  • What he is focused on now across comedy, documentaries, cars, and racing

Why This Conversation Matters

Carolla has spent his entire career inside the media business — first the gatekept version of it, then the independent one he helped build. That vantage point is what makes the hour worth spending: less a run of hot takes than a working broadcaster explaining the incentives he has watched operate from both sides of them. The political and cultural opinions in this episode are Adam Carolla's own.

Dr. John Demartini on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/john-demartini-digital-social-hour/ Sun, 26 Jul 2026 11:11:25 +0000 https://seankelly.io/john-demartini-digital-social-hour/

Dr. John Demartini has spent decades teaching a single idea from as many angles as he can find: that the labels placed on a person are rarely a fair measure of what that person can become. He built the Demartini Institute around that premise, wrote dozens of books on values and human behavior, and has lectured to audiences on nearly every continent. When he joined Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour — connecting in from the ship he lives aboard — the conversation started with labels and kept widening from there.

What follows is a long, wide-ranging exchange on learning, attention, stress, and belief. Dr. Demartini moves from how the mind stores information to why entrepreneurs so often build one part of life at the expense of the rest, and Sean Kelly gives the conversation room to travel from classrooms and AI all the way to mythology and ancient history.

Episode: DSH #2080
Runtime: 54 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Dr. John Demartini

Dr. John Demartini is a human behavior specialist, author, and educator, and the founder of the Demartini Institute. He developed the Demartini Method and the Demartini Value Determination process, tools built around the premise that a person's highest values govern where their attention goes and, in turn, what they are able to learn and sustain. Trained as a chiropractor before turning to research and teaching, he has written extensively on values, relationships, and self-development, including 'The Values Factor' and 'The Breakthrough Experience.'

He reached a much wider audience through his appearance in the 2006 film 'The Secret,' and has since spent much of his career on the road as a speaker and seminar leader. Dr. Demartini has spoken publicly and often about his own start — a childhood marked by learning and speech difficulties and, by his account, being told he would never read, write, or amount to much academically — which is the experience underneath most of what he now teaches about labels and potential.

What Dr. John Demartini and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • Why Dr. Demartini argues that labels can conceal a person's real strengths rather than describe them
  • His view of how diagnoses like ADHD and autism are interpreted, framed as his own perspective
  • How he says a person's highest values determine what they notice and retain
  • Why entrepreneurs often excel in one area of life while neglecting several others
  • The reading and memory habits he credits for absorbing large volumes of information
  • How he sees education, social media, and AI competing for the same limited attention
  • Why he traces most limiting beliefs back to comparison with other people
  • His take on stress as a function of how an event is interpreted, not the event itself
  • What he believes mythology and ancient civilizations suggest about human development

Why This Conversation Matters

Almost everyone carries a label from somewhere — a school report, a diagnosis, a job title, an offhand comment that stuck. Dr. John Demartini's conversation with Sean Kelly is a sustained argument for treating those labels as someone else's incomplete read rather than a ceiling, and for using better questions to find out what is actually there. His views on health, diagnosis, and genetics are his own and are not medical advice.

Nico Ali Walsh on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/nico-ali-walsh-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 25 Jul 2026 11:32:06 +0000 https://seankelly.io/nico-ali-walsh-digital-social-hour/

Nico Ali Walsh has spent his career answering a question most fighters never have to face: what does it mean to box while carrying the name Ali? The grandson of Muhammad Ali, through his mother, Rasheda Ali, he turned professional determined to build his own record rather than lean on his family's legacy. When Nico Ali Walsh sat down with Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour, he spoke candidly about what that pressure feels like from inside the ring.

The conversation goes deep into the mental side of boxing — fighting through injury, controlling emotion before a fight, and the discipline it takes to stay ready when there is no fight date on the calendar.

Episode: DSH #2079
Runtime: 67 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Nico Ali Walsh

Nico Ali Walsh is a professional boxer and the grandson of Muhammad Ali, one of the most recognized athletes in history, through his mother, Rasheda Ali. He turned pro determined to be judged on his own record, carrying comparisons that come with the Ali name into every fight he takes.

Beyond his family history, Nico Ali Walsh has built a reputation for treating boxing as a mental discipline as much as a physical one, training through injury, managing pressure, and approaching the sport with the seriousness his last name demands.

What Nico Ali Walsh and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • His view that boxing is a mental discipline as much as a physical one
  • How he manages emotion and pressure in the hours before a fight
  • His account of finishing a fight while dealing with a torn shoulder
  • What it means to him to compete while carrying the weight of the Ali name
  • How he stays fight-ready during long stretches without a confirmed fight date
  • Why he trains and runs without headphones to stay present and focused
  • His perspective on how individual combat sports differ from team sports
  • His outlook on what comes next in his boxing career

Why This Conversation Matters

Few young fighters carry a name as recognizable as Ali into the ring, and Nico Ali Walsh's conversation with Sean Kelly offers a candid look at what that responsibility feels like. It is a respectful, grounded look at the discipline behind the sport, and at a fighter working to define his own place in it.

Brian Shapiro on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/brian-shapiro-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 25 Jul 2026 11:32:02 +0000 https://seankelly.io/brian-shapiro-digital-social-hour/

Brian Shapiro has spent more than twenty years behind the microphone in Las Vegas, building Pushing the Limits into a show known for tackling politics, sports, and entertainment with guests who do not always agree with him. That willingness to sit across from people he disagrees with shaped his conversation with Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour.

The discussion moves through political media, online outrage, and the incentives that reward extreme takes over careful ones, with Shapiro offering his own on-air experience as a lens for understanding why modern political debate so often turns into performance.

Episode: DSH #2076
Runtime: 46 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Brian Shapiro

Brian Shapiro is a longtime Las Vegas radio host and the voice behind Pushing the Limits, heard on KSHP AM 1400 and 107.1 FM. Over more than two decades on air, he has built a reputation for interviewing guests across politics, sports, and entertainment, including figures he strongly disagrees with.

That approach — engaging directly with a wide range of viewpoints rather than staying inside a single political lane — is central to how Brian Shapiro frames his own media criticism, including his view that some public figures adopt extreme positions primarily to drive attention and engagement.

What Brian Shapiro and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • His media critique of what he calls political grifting, offered as his own take
  • How his experience debating people he disagrees with shapes his approach to media
  • His view that viral clips often distort complicated political stories
  • His call for independent investigations into disputed immigration enforcement actions
  • His perspective on free speech and moderation across private social platforms
  • How he sees online outrage functioning as a business model for some creators
  • His take on why authenticity matters more to him than any political label
  • Where longtime listeners can find his show, Pushing the Limits

Why This Conversation Matters

Political conversations increasingly reward the loudest voice in the room, and Brian Shapiro's conversation with Sean Kelly pushes back against that instinct. Drawing on two decades of interviewing people across the political spectrum, Shapiro offers a media insider's take on outrage, authenticity, and what serious political dialogue actually requires.

Joe Kent on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/joe-kent-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 25 Jul 2026 11:31:58 +0000 https://seankelly.io/joe-kent-digital-social-hour/

Joe Kent brings a service record most public figures cannot match to his conversations about national security. A retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer with 11 combat deployments and six Bronze Stars, he later served as a CIA paramilitary officer and, most recently, as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center before resigning in March 2026. He is also a Gold Star husband — his wife, Shannon Kent, was killed in action fighting ISIS in 2019.

When Joe Kent joined Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour, the conversation ranged across the Iran conflict, the Strait of Hormuz, national debt, and the future of American politics, with Kent offering his own stated views throughout.

Episode: DSH #2072
Runtime: 36 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Joe Kent

Joe Kent spent 20 years in Army Special Forces, deploying into combat 11 times and earning six Bronze Stars. He later served as a paramilitary officer with the CIA before being named Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, a role he held until resigning in March 2026.

He is a Gold Star husband: his wife, Shannon Kent, was killed in action fighting ISIS in 2019. Since leaving government service, Kent has continued to speak publicly on national security and foreign policy, sharing his own views rather than an official position.

What Joe Kent and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • His stated view that the Iran conflict has not fully ended despite ceasefire language
  • How he assesses the leverage Iran holds through the Strait of Hormuz
  • His take on how cheap drones have changed the calculus of modern warfare
  • Why he believes prolonged conflicts create incentives for defense contractors
  • His stated concerns about national debt and the long-term strength of the U.S. dollar
  • How he views the risks AI poses to jobs and civil liberties
  • His perspective on Ukraine, NATO, and Russia's long-term strategic approach
  • His reflections on the state of the two-party system, offered as his own opinion

Why This Conversation Matters

Joe Kent's service record — two decades in Army Special Forces, a career in CIA paramilitary operations, and a term leading the National Counterterrorism Center — brings a firsthand vantage point to conversations about national security that most commentators only observe from the outside. His conversation with Sean Kelly lays out his own stated views, shaped by that experience and by a personal loss that has stayed with him ever since.

Robert Pape on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/robert-pape-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 25 Jul 2026 11:31:55 +0000 https://seankelly.io/robert-pape-digital-social-hour/

Robert Pape has spent his career studying how wars are actually won and lost, research that has made him one of the most cited scholars on air power, terrorism, and coercive strategy. A professor of political science at the University of Chicago and director of the Chicago Project on Security and Threats, he has tracked the Iran conflict closely and told Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour that he saw this stage of the war coming long before it reached the headlines.

The conversation is a serious, academically grounded look at strategy and risk — Pape's assessment of how drone warfare, asymmetric conflict, and misread signals could push an already dangerous situation further than official narratives suggest.

Episode: DSH #2070
Runtime: 67 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Robert Pape

Robert Pape is a professor of political science at the University of Chicago and the director of the Chicago Project on Security and Threats, a research center he founded to study terrorism, political violence, and international security. His research on air power and coercive military strategy has made him one of the most frequently cited scholars in the field.

Pape has spent decades studying why bombing campaigns succeed or fail to change an adversary's behavior, research that informs his current analysis of the Iran conflict. His appearance on the Digital Social Hour placed that academic expertise directly in conversation with one of the more consequential foreign policy questions of the moment.

What Robert Pape and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • Why Professor Pape says he anticipated this stage of the Iran conflict well in advance
  • His scholarly assessment of how cheap drones have changed the balance of modern warfare
  • Why he argues that bombing campaigns can strengthen an adversary's resolve rather than break it
  • His analysis of how Iran's strategic position differs from past U.S. adversaries
  • How he assesses the shifting momentum around the Abraham Accords and Israel's regional position
  • His take on the political difficulty of stepping back once a conflict is underway
  • Why he considers the risk of wider Middle East escalation to remain high
  • How his research on coercion and air power informs his reading of the conflict

Why This Conversation Matters

Serious foreign policy conversations benefit from scholars willing to explain their reasoning in plain terms, and Robert Pape's conversation with Sean Kelly does exactly that. His academic perspective, informed by years of research on air power and coercion, gives listeners a framework for understanding a conflict that is still unfolding.

Susan Bratton on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/susan-bratton-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 25 Jul 2026 11:31:51 +0000 https://seankelly.io/susan-bratton-digital-social-hour/

Susan Bratton has spent more than two decades helping couples build stronger relationships as an educator, author, and CEO of Personal Life Media. Her focus has always been communication: the conversations couples avoid, the trust that performance anxiety erodes, and the openness that makes real connection possible. When Susan Bratton joined Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour, the discussion moved from practical relationship advice into a bigger question — how technology, especially AI, is about to change intimacy itself.

The conversation ranges from communication and emotional safety to how long-distance couples are using new tools to stay connected, grounded throughout in Bratton's professional view that trust matters more than any technique.

Episode: DSH #2068
Runtime: 58 min
Watch on YouTube →

Her work centers on the communication gaps around desire, confidence, and emotional safety that keep many couples from talking openly about what they actually want.

As an author and speaker, Bratton has built a career translating research on relationships and connection into practical guidance for everyday couples. Her professional perspective on how AI-driven wellness technology is entering the relationship space made her a timely guest for this conversation.

What Susan Bratton and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • Why Susan Bratton believes open communication changes the trajectory of a relationship
  • Her professional outlook on how AI-driven wellness tools are entering the intimacy space
  • How long-distance couples are using new technology to maintain connection and closeness
  • Why she sees trust and emotional safety as more important than any single technique
  • Her take on how ego and control can block real intimacy between partners
  • Why confidence and presence play a larger role in connection than most people realize
  • How breathing and awareness can reduce performance pressure between partners
  • Her advice for couples working to rebuild trust and communicate more openly

Why This Conversation Matters

As wellness technology moves further into personal relationships, Susan Bratton's perspective — grounded in decades of coaching couples — offers a professional, level-headed look at where intimacy and AI are headed. Acharya Prashant on the Digital Social Hour with Sean Kelly https://seankelly.io/acharya-prashant-digital-social-hour/ Sat, 25 Jul 2026 11:31:16 +0000 https://seankelly.io/acharya-prashant-digital-social-hour/

Acharya Prashant has built one of the largest spiritual followings in the world by applying Vedanta to distinctly modern problems — loneliness, status, and the exhaustion of chasing more. A former civil servant and graduate of IIT-Delhi and IIM-Ahmedabad, he left conventional success behind to teach full-time, and his talks now reach millions online. When Acharya Prashant sat down with Sean Kelly on the Digital Social Hour, the conversation moved quickly into the question underneath most people's lives: why does achieving more so rarely bring lasting peace?

What follows is a searching conversation about love, dependence, technology, and money — one that treats fulfillment less as a destination and more as a matter of clear-eyed self-examination.

Episode: DSH #2066
Runtime: 46 min
Watch on YouTube →

About Acharya Prashant

Acharya Prashant is an Indian philosopher and teacher of Vedanta whose talks, books, and online videos have built a substantial global following. Before turning to full-time teaching, he studied at IIT-Delhi and IIM-Ahmedabad and served in India's civil service, a background that shapes his direct, systems-minded approach to questions most spiritual teachers leave abstract.

He has written extensively on relationships, ambition, consumerism, and mental conditioning, and his organization publishes that teaching through books, an app, and a large video library. That combination of institutional credentials and prolific output has made Acharya Prashant a distinctive voice on modern meaning and self-awareness.

What Acharya Prashant and Sean Kelly Talked About

  • Why having endless choices and real achievements can still leave people feeling empty
  • How Acharya Prashant distinguishes real love from emotional dependence and the need to be completed
  • His view that artificial intelligence is only as dangerous as the person directing it
  • Why he connects everyday consumption habits to climate change and environmental strain
  • How internal freedom differs from external markers of success like wealth and status
  • His argument that purpose cannot be borrowed from society and must be examined directly
  • Why he encourages people to examine their food choices as part of self-awareness
  • How conditioning shapes ambition, relationships, and the pursuit of money without question

Why This Conversation Matters

For a generation navigating unprecedented choice and constant digital comparison, Acharya Prashant's teaching offers something rare: an invitation to slow down and ask what is actually being pursued, and why. His conversation with Sean Kelly is less about answers than about the discipline of asking better questions.
